Prescription Policy

Last updated: March 2026

⚠ Important: Nivalé does not sell prescription eyewear. None of our products require or replace a prescription from a licensed eye care professional.

1. Our Products Are Not Prescription Glasses

All eyewear sold at Nivalé — including our multifocal reading glasses, blue light blocking glasses, photochromic lenses, sunglasses, and 2-in-1 clip-on glasses — are over-the-counter (OTC) vision aids and lifestyle eyewear. They are designed for general use and convenience, not as medical devices or corrective prescription lenses.

Our multifocal and reading glasses use fixed magnification lenses (measured in diopters) and are intended for individuals who experience difficulty reading small print at close range due to the natural effects of aging — a condition known as presbyopia.

2. These Products Do Not Replace an Eye Exam

We strongly encourage all customers to consult a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist before purchasing or using any vision correction product. An eye care professional can:

  • Determine your accurate prescription for both near and distance vision
  • Identify underlying eye conditions that may require medical treatment
  • Recommend the appropriate lens type and strength for your specific needs

Using the wrong lens strength — even in over-the-counter readers — may cause temporary discomfort, eye strain, or headaches. If you experience persistent discomfort while using our products, discontinue use and seek professional advice.

3. No Medical Claims Are Made

Nivalé does not make any medical claims about its products. Terms such as "multifocal," "blue light blocking," "photochromic," and "adaptive lenses" describe optical and material features of the glasses — they do not imply diagnosis, treatment, prevention, or cure of any eye condition or disease.

Our blue light blocking glasses are designed to filter a portion of high-energy visible (HEV) blue light emitted by digital screens. While many customers report reduced digital eye strain, these products are not classified as medical devices and have not been evaluated by the FDA or any equivalent regulatory body for the treatment of any medical condition.

4. Product Suitability

Our products are intended for adults and are sold as general-use eyewear. They are not suitable as a substitute for:

  • Prescription glasses or contact lenses
  • Post-surgery corrective eyewear
  • Treatment for conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, or any diagnosed eye disease
  • Children's corrective eyewear (our kids' glasses are blue light blocking lifestyle products only)

5. Choosing the Right Reading Strength

If you are purchasing reading glasses and are unsure of your strength, most pharmacies and optical stores offer a simple reading chart to help. As a general guide:

  • +1.00 – +1.50: Mild difficulty reading fine print
  • +1.75 – +2.25: Moderate difficulty, common for ages 40–50
  • +2.50 – +3.00: Greater difficulty, common for ages 50–60+
  • +3.25 and above: Strong magnification; professional guidance recommended

This guide is for general reference only and does not replace a professional eye examination.

6. Returns and Suitability Issues

If our products are not suitable for your vision needs, you may return them within 14 days of delivery in accordance with our Return Policy. Please contact our support team before returning any item.

7. Limitation of Liability

Nivalé is not liable for any damage, injury, or loss arising from the improper use of our products, including use as a substitute for prescribed corrective eyewear. Customers assume full responsibility for determining the suitability of any product for their individual vision needs.
